The Chequers is proud to support many local charities and appeals, each year raising thousands of pounds for good causes.

The Harry Dobson Charity night raised a stonking £4,626.00!!

The Chequers would like to thank those that turned up, those that donated the spectacular prizes and all those that organised - particularly MC Stratford (the clip below shows some of the action)

Maunday Thursday (5th April) will see a charity racenight and auction at The Chequers in aid of Harry Dobson, a three-year old with Autism. His parents are desperate to send him to the USA for treatment. Eight races will take place and eight horses will run in each, a horse can be bought for £3 with the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes. The auction will follow and the evening will be complemented by the fact that the pub will be open until 12.30.

Thursday 25th January sees the return of the popular Burns Night festivities, now entering their third year the meal is organised by pub regular Richard Scott in association with Cameron Rowe Wealth Management. Tickets are limited to forty and cost £5 each which includes a gut busting three course meal, haggis address, raffle, speeches and toasting galore - all proceeds go to Chislehurst district Jamboree fundraising.

Saturday 23rd September saw a fun-run with a difference ending at The Chequers, regulars Ruth and Kate Huntington ran five miles in Gorilla costumes to raise funds for a monkey sanctuary they will be working at in South Africa, more details on their Blog.

Sunday 24th of September saw a fundraiser for local scouts - 2007 marks the 100th anniversary of scouting and a world jamboree is taking place in Essex. A contingent of scouts from the area will be attending and are working hard in raising the neccesary £1,500 required for each scout. On sunday the 24th many regulars popped along to Little India in Petts Wood for a curry before coming to the Sunday quiz - Baz and his team laid on fantastic meals at only £15 a head with all proceeds are going towards the jamboree fund. £1,500 was raised - well done!

Sunday 10th Sept saw a return of the popular 'Adopt-a-greyhound' day. Good homes were found for all the retired racers on this occasion and Rob & Jo pass their thanks on to all involved.
